Words of welcome of the executive editor of the issue

 

Dear Colleagues!

 

You are presented with the first issue of the fifth volume of the international scientific journal “The World of the Big Altai”. For five years we have been working in the scientific information space, 197 articles have been published on the pages of the journal, 19 issues have been published. Writers from Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, China, Japan and Kazakhstan worked on the publication of the journal. Throughout publishing, we have released several thematic issues on archeology, culture, demography, etc. The journal has become an interactive platform that provided conditions for closer cooperation of scientists working on interdisciplinary issues at the interface of the humanities. We have regular authors and readers interested in us.

Our journal is included in the Russian Science Citation Index. Full-text versions of articles are posted on the Internet on the journal’s page in the scientific electronic library at: http://elibrary.ru/title_about.asp?id=54819. And we can say that the average index of authors who published articles in our journal is 5.0; the two-year impact factor of the RSCI, taking into account citations from all sources, is 0.059; and the Hirsch index is 2. These figures are still too small, but at the same time it is the result of our joint activities.

The journal is hosted by CrossRef, an international scientific base, an association of scientific publishing houses that develops a common infrastructure to support more efficient scientific communications. The CrossRef citation system today covers over 68 million journal articles and other content items from thousands of scientific and professional publishers worldwide (https://search.crossref.org /?q=2410-2725&type=Journal+Article).

We are the first Kazakhstan journal using a digital object identifier, DOI assignment has a positive effect on the author’s and the journal’s reputation, since using an identifier materials can be placed in the world's leading scientific bibliographic catalogs.

We have strengthened the editorial board of the magazine, identified new tasks and a development strategy, the near future is seen in the entry of the magazine into the list of publications recommended by CСES, long-term into the list of Skopus publications.

The current issue is represented by interesting publications on the personal history of S. Asfendiarov (Dzhunisbaev A.A.). Sh. Zhienkulova (Kasymova D.). The articles of Kazakova A.A., Scheglova T.K., Oinotkinova N.R. are devoted to the Altai theme in the focus of archeology, oral history and everyday life, folklore. The history of the national liberation movement in 1916, based on materials from the Semipalatinsk region, including the Zaisan district, is highlighted by Y. Yermukanov, R. Ospanov.

In the article presentation section, the materials of G. Nurymbetova were published, which revealed the election algorithm, analyzing the category of “political competition” in independent Kazakhstan. The current issue is represented by interesting publications on the personal history S. Khodzhanov (Simtikov Zh.K.).
